Prairie House Recovery (PHR) is a place where girls can reclaim their youth on the way to becoming responsible women. Adolescent girls can become lost in the disease of addiction and substance abuse and they can be robbed of the most formative years in life.
The PHR facility is an 8-bed residential care program created to help girls, age thirteen to eighteen, focus on recovery from chemical use disorders without the distraction of a coed environment. At PHR, teenage girls experience a structured, safe, and challenging environment where they grow in self-esteem and emotional maturity.
Each member of our counseling staff is well trained in the principles of recovery from chemical abuse and addiction. An important part of this training is learning to differentiate between the complexities of adolescent development and the behaviors associated with chemical abuse and dependency.
Admission to our program is completely voluntary with referrals coming from a number of sources including other treatment programs, community service providers, and parents.
Families are expected to attend our family programming when their daughter is in treatment.

12 Steps To Sobriety. Four Goals To Graduation.
Participants in Prairie House Recovery use a 12-Step based recovery model to work at becoming increasingly responsible for their choices and behavior. The more quickly they achieve program goals, the sooner they are awarded greater freedoms within the PHR community. The principal goals of our residential treatment are designed to help adolescent girls, that are still in school, reintegrate into their homes and communities.
Our program has the following goals:
- Help girls understand and begin to utilize the basic steps of recovery - honesty, openness and willingness - as a cornerstone for continued personal growth.
- Assist girls in learning to establish and maintain healthy relationships.
- Assist girls in making a commitment to self-improvement and learning.
- Assist girls and families with resolving issues surrounding substance abuse.
By combining the elements of structure and support within an environment of fresh air, open spaces and serenity PHR offers troubled adolescent girls hope that they can recover from their addiction. An emphasis on education, small group interaction, and a daily routine guides them to experience the rewards of a life free from the use of mood-altering chemicals.
